Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera(YPPB) Scholarship (Tunas Potensi 2019) Interview Experience 2019

So this is my second post after posting the interview experience of YTP MARA. Fyi, actually this interview that I wanna tell you guys was my first scholarship interview. It happened a long time before i went for MARA interview (3 minggu je geng). Maybe the majority of the top scorer students don't know about this scholarship, so I'm writing this experience for students who will go through this interview ( maybe useful for you guys la kot). Btw, this scholarship is eligible for brilliant students who achieve great results for both SPM trial+SPM. This scholarship only open for the B40 family and Bumiputera like its name. You can start applying for the scholarship using your trial result because the scholarship commonly open for the students before the real result is out. YPPB offered the students many majors such as Health Science, Engineering, and Actuarial Science, overseas and local. For the overseas programme, YPPB offered twinning programme and the requirements is quite high; 8A/A+ and 1A or 2A for 1119 (GCE-O). So I tried my luck and applied for engineering overseas programme for the first choice (lol I only got 3A 5A- 1C+ in my SPM trial) and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Petronas(UTP) as second choice. This scholarship is a full scholarship and doesn't have any bond after you complete your degree so it is a very good choice of scholarship i think.
The story started when I got the email from them saying that I was invited for interview on 23rd March at their headquarter, floor 15-1, Bangunan Mercu UEM. They also attached an assessment questions for me to do the research before I attend the interview. From 5 assessment questions, YPPB asked me to pick 2 topics and do my own research about the topics. The topics that I chose were "What are some of the benefits of artificial intelligence technology? Which countries are at forefront of AI technology?" and "How can we used technology to save our environment or endangered wildlife?". From these 2 topics, the panel will pick one topic for us to present. But don't worry, you can speak using either in Bahasa Malaysia or English. But the panels from YPPB preferred us to talk in English. They also gave us 10 minutes to elaborate our ideas so make sure your research is full of facts.
I went to the designated place and bring the required documents. It was my first scholarship interview so I was very nervous at that time. Around 30+ students from Terengganu and Kelantan came for the interview same day as me. Fyi, the interview held for a few days depends on where do you live. After that, we were given a brief about YPPB and the tentative of today's programme. We will go through two sessions; first session is documents verification and second session is individual interview session. After completing the first session, my name was called to enter the room for the second session. I greeted the panel and sit in front of her. She asked the very common questions before i begin my presentation like introduce yourself, what's your strength and weakness, and where do you see yourself for 10 years ahead. She also asked me that did i came from a challenging family and if yes, explain why. It was a very tricky question because I never though that question will be ask for the interview. I think it was my fault because this scholarship was for those who came from the challenging and underprivileged family. So be prepare for this question and create a good story but don't ever lie about your story. If you lie about your background family, you are likely to take other people chances to get this scholarship because scholarship was created to give the brilliant students who came from an underprivileged family to further the studies. It's like you take their rezeki to further the studies (I said what I said). After all these questions, she allow me to present my preffered topic and I chose to present about the AI technology. The panel just wanted to see how we talk and how we elaborate facts so make sure your research is interesting okay. Before the second session ended, she ask me if I have any questions to ask so make sure you prepare one or two questions for them to show that you are interested to be one of their scholars.
I think that's all from me and I didn't get this scholarship at last hahaha but I think maybe there are a lot of great students who really need this scholarship. So i reda with the result and I hope whoever got this scholarship will use it wisely for their studies.
