MARA YTP Interview Experience 2019
Dear all,
I know that this kind of experience perhaps useful for the post-SPM students who has getting invitation email from MARA. So, i hope this post will be beneficial for you guys to face the scary(read: fun) interview.
This journey started when i got an email from Post SPM MARA unit on 1st April 2019 saying that the result for interview call is out online on their website. Without hesitation, I quickly access the website called "myeduloan.mara" to check whether i being called for the interview or not. With hope in the heart, I got the interview call. Btw, I applied for International Baccalaureate(IB) Science for the first choice and Pra-USM for the second choice. The IB programme is at Kolej MARA Banting and Pra-USM programme is at Kolej MARA Kulim. To continue the story, Alhamdulillah i got called for the interview for my first choice. Fyi, my friends who applied for the programme in Malaysia didn't have to attend any interview. So, they will look at your extra-curricular achievements, and parents' salary(data from LHDN) to calculate your merit. I think it's kinda risky because you can't show your true self at the interview. The interview that i need to attend was at Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Bangi on 13th April 2019.
On 13th April, I attended the interview and brought all the documents needed including the resume. First tip from me is you need to make the perfect resume because the panels will see our resume. Make sure you include all of your achievements and positions in your resume and make it look professional. I arrived at that place on 8.30 a.m. and the person in-charge asked the students to take a seat. I was late at that time so the first session group has already get inside the interview place. The seats provided were to divided us into a group. My group is Group E, consists of 8 students and all of them came from the great schools around Malaysia. One came from KYS, one came from KISAS and so on. At that time I was so nervous because I only came from ordinary school hehe but i set my mind that "everyone is same now and I also a great person because i also got the interview call." cehhh. So on 10.30 a.m, we were asked to enter a room with my group. There were 3 panels who were waiting to eat us(jk). For the first activity, it was a group presentation activity. We were given a topic to discuss and present it to the panels. I didn't remember well about our topic but it was related to the smoking ban in Malaysia. The panels give us 15 minutes to discuss the topic including the subtopics. We were very rushing and i think 15 minutes were not enough for us but Alhamdulillah we managed to discuss all the subtopics because we divided 4 subtopics for 2 persons each. We presented it in English even though my speaking skills is bad. Second tip from me is you need to talk confidently in the interview even though your speaking skill is bad like mine because the panels do not want to see how fluent we are but the confidence we have in our self. After finishing our presentation, we were allowed to have a seat. Like typical interview, commonly the panels will find our weakness in the group presentation so prepare your mental well and answer their question related to our group presentation politely. The question we receive was why one of our group stated the fact wrongly. They also asked us about out bad time management(lol). Everyone was given a chance to speak so do tolerate support each other. Third tip from me is don't too conquer the group and give everyone chance to speak because the panels want to see how we cooperate with each other. We also receive random question such as what is your favourite book and tell what it is about. One of my group said that she liked to read romance novel lol XD. So the interview session ended on 11.30 a.m. and we bid the goodbye and bersalam-salaman with the panels. We managed to take the pictures of our group. I was so happy because i had a very good time with them. So we collected each other contacts and still contact until now. That's all from me and sorry for my broken english hehe. Practice makes perfect right?
